There are many contributors to the present-day opium situation in India. The government is not immune to these issues either - instead, they are complicit in this problem by allowing poppy cultivation and production of illicit drugs to flourish.
Opium addiction and the opium market has been a major problem for people in India. The use of opium is illegal. But the cost-effective and easy to access nature of this drug has made it popular among young people and adults.
There are many factors that contribute to the issue of opium addiction in India. It has its roots in both cultural tradition as well as modernity, poverty, business practices, demographics, geography and geopolitics.
The use of opium is illegal but it can be easily purchased from pharmacies or other shops that sell drugs without a doctor's prescription. This makes it difficult for authorities to keep track of the problem because they cannot stop all the points where people can buy this drug easily.
